Keegan Taberner is an eighteen year old honour-roll graduate from Campbell River - a small town located in British Columbia, Canada. He was diagnosed with juvenile (Type 1) diabetes at the early age of two years old. Diabetes management and its complications have always been a large part of Keegan's life over the past sixteen years, but he has always made a point of not letting it restrict him in the pursuit of his dreams. Now Keegan wants to help with the research, treatment and curing of diabetes, as well as show other diabetics that you shouldn’t let diabetes restrict your life; You can do something amazing!

This summer Keegan and a small crew departed on a sailing voyage which covered approximately 1300km or 800mi circumnavigating Vancouver Island in order to raise the money needed to continue juvenile diabetes research, treatment as well as eventually curing and preventing the disease. Sailing has always been a part of Keegan’s life, and if you look back at his earliest childhood drawings, many of them are of sailboats – that passion of sailing has always stayed strong with him throughout his life. Donate now; this is your opportunity not only to make an impact on millions of children with diabetes worldwide, but to help a dedicated young man pursue a lifelong dream – to make a difference in the lives of many.

Over the period of approximately two months, Keegan and a good friend as crew (Carsen Black) sailed 1300km circumnavigating Vancouver Island to not only raise the funds needed, but to also raise awareness about juvenile diabetes. The voyage was based and started in Campbell River, and proceeded counter-clockwise around Vancouver Island. This route was demanding on the ship and the crew - both mentally and physically. There were many interactive stops along the way to let meet the locals and explore the local areas! See the map and list of stops below.
